John, I am continually in awe of your work. Along with Craig Thompson, you are one of my favorite cartoonists working today and I hope, one day, you get your work published in book-form and get all the recognition you deserve. You keep hitting them way, way out of the park.
Each time one of these comes out, and especially this one, it's like a little knife going deeper into one's gut, with parts of it resonating within oneself
These seem somewhat cathartic for you. Can we collaborate on one, where you draw and I supply the story? I've got issues to work out and closure to achieve!
A great read, great storytelling, you seem to always nail the perfect angle to show your characters. And the pace. Something reminds me of some pieces of Raymond Carver that I love.
Sorry Comics are a collection of autobiographical stories from my life. I started this process in 2006 during a tumultuous break-up and I can't seem to shake the habit. Hopefully, you'll find them to be humorous, self-effacing, awkward, funny, uncomfortable and humiliating (for both you and me).

ReplyDeleteI agree with the guys above me.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully sad and real.
ReplyDeleteThe second to last frame is the worst place in the entire world.
ReplyDeleteDitto to what Kry said

ReplyDeleteHow did I miss this one? What can I say, man? You are in a league of your own. Brilliant work as usual.
ReplyDeleteThis is really, really great. It flows so naturally.
ReplyDeleteAnother beaut'! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI really dig this subtle gradient thing.
