I'M NOT OVER HER

  1. i really like your comics!
they feel genuine and very easy to relate to.
you also do some unusual stuff with your camera, like on page 2, panel 1 and 2 or on page 3, the first two panels.

  2. I like how in this comic and in the past entries that when you're depressed about something you don't shave your face! If I was a man or was able to grow facial hair I would only shave on good days that way people know not to bug me on the days I have a 5 o'clock shadow. anyways, good comics!

  3. I just took some time and cruised through some of your comics... really vulnerable and real and interesting stuff. I know it's hard to put yourself "out there" and be so open, especially on the interent, but your work the better for it. Keep up the good work.

  4. Love your stuff! By the way, I'm a big R. Crumb fan, and he's Year of the Sheep too. Too bad about Dana. Have you all ever thought about responsible non-monogamy (also known as polyamory)? Although, I don't know, Dana sounds hard to get along with. I couldn't believe it when she was mad at you for not waiting to eat when she got there even though she was late, but then that's probably just a cultural thing she grew up with -- just like jealousy, possessiveness and monogamy are cultural things we grew up with. She must be nice, since you like her. (Does she do comics too?)

  5. Thanks everyone for your comments. Actually, It was Janice that was angry at me for eating without her, not Dana. Dana, on the other hand, was easy to get along with (with a few exceptions).

I'm not sure if I'd be a good candidate for polyamory. I suppose it's possible if everyone involved was honest and self-confident.

  6. dang.

that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach, that heavy breath you take when the realization hits that you're not over someone... well, that's exactly what this comic made me feel. i really like all your comics so far. it makes me wish i could be that honest with my work.

  7. It's freakishly shocking how much this is like my own life. I mean, I'm experiencing it right now with a girl I broke up with after a 2 year relationship.

I have someone else now, I love her loads. But then the girl I broke up with is thinking about going out with my friend. AT that very moment I realised I'm not over with her and essentially spent the whole night crying, it's awful.

    1. It's odd to be looking through a site I used to browse years ago to find old comments by myself. A little awkward too, I'm glad I left this anonymous as a teenager!

Still love your comics John, hopefully someday you can find some time or inspiration to make some more. I've been checking back for new ones periodically for the past two years! Hope it's all going well.

    2. Thanks for checking in from time to time. I'm still making comics (as well as documentary films). I'll share more soon.
